Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick of butter cubed
  • 3 Tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • Glaze Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 Tablespoon milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. If you have a convection setting, use it!
  2. Combine all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Incorporate butter with a pastry blender or your hands and mix until it becomes coarse crumbs.
  3. Be careful not to over blend, or to get the butter too warm if you are using your hands.
  4. Whisk the wet ingredients together and add them to the dry. Knead slightly to form a soft dough.
  5. Roll out dough on a clean, floured surface into a 1/2 inch thick rectangular sheet. Cut into squares, and then diagonally into triangles.
  6. Place each scone on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool the scones cool on a cooling rack.
  8. Whisk together glaze ingredients, drizzle over scones.  Make sure the scones are completely cooled
  9. You may store in an airtight container, but only if they are completely cooled!
