How to Fry Your Own Oysters At Home- Easy Instructions

Ingredients
  

  • 24 large oysters shucked
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • dash ground cayenne pepper optional
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 cup fine dry bread crumbs

Method
 

  1. Drain oysters.
  2. Beat the eggs with salt and pepper and cayenne. Whisk in water.
  3. Put bread crumbs in a shallow bowl.
  4. Dip oysters, one at a time, into the egg mixture then into the bread crumbs. Let the oysters rest for 5 minutes before frying.
  5. Fry in batches in hot deep fat at about 370° until golden brown.  Drain and keep warm while you fry the remaining oysters.
  6. Serve hot with cocktail sauce, remoulade sauce, or tartar sauce, or use in sandwiches.
