Sleepover for Two
My husband and I like to take a night once in a while to catch up and have what we call “sleepovers.” At about 8pm we get into our PJ’s and pile a bunch of blankets on the floor. Then we watch a couple DVD’s that we rented for that night. We pop some popcorn and make a bunch of junk food and curl up on the couch and watch the movies. Afterward we play a board game like LIFE or something like that. And lastly, we lay on the pallets we made on the floor (or couch) and talk until we fall asleep. It’s a lot of fun.

Spontaneous Camping
The best date I’ve ever been on wasn’t even planned at all. My boyfriend and I are students at colleges about 2 hours away from each other. He came up to spend the weekend with me and around 10 o’clock that night he asked me to gather up all of my blankets and pillows and an alarm clock. We drove to a campsite about an hour away and slept in the car all night. The alarm went off just in time for us to catch the sunrise over the beautiful scenery. Because it was February, it cost about $25.00 for the campsite and breakfast the next morning.

Spoon Surprise
Here’s a little idea that’ll cost you about $20 or so. Get yourself a metal spoon and get your lover’s name and your own engraved on it. Give it to him/her in the beginning of a special evening or whenever. And your significant other will most likely think, “Uh, Yeah. A spoon. How cute.” Now, at the end of the evening, present her an ice cream Sunday that you’ve prepared or bought, thus making the spoons use justified.

Stars A Million
Almost every night when my fiancé leaves to go home we hug and look at the stars together. A couple weeks ago we both looked up at the same time and saw a shooting star and that is when I got this idea. I got online and looked up when the next meteor shower would be. It so happens there’s one on October 21 this year. I am going to drive to his house and set us up a little spot with blankets (He lives on a farm in the middle of nowhere. So, for some you would have to drive away from the city lights.) and make some hot chocolate. We can cuddle and look up to the thousand shooting stars like the one we saw that sparked the idea.

Steal The Night Away
There was a period of time when my husband and I were spending more time with our friends out drinking than with each other. So, one night I said I would meet him downtown around midnight. I threw some strawberries, plastic wine glasses, a very cheap bottle of sparking wine, and the tent into the car. I met him at our favorite pub and told him I had a surprise. I took him to a campground right on the beach for $20. It was so romantic and we definitely realized how much alone time meant.

Surprise Evening
My boyfriend and I had been going out for 6 months and I had no clue what do to celebrate because I only had a couple hours that night to spend with him, (I was in the middle of exams) and I wanted it to be amazing. He came over to my house that evening, very tired after a long day. We sat down together just talking and listening to music, when I got an idea. Keeping it to myself so as to surprise him, I waited until he fell asleep. Once asleep, I gave him a pillow and a blanket and let him have a nap while I put the surprise evening into action. First, I cooked our favorite meal for supper (spaghetti) and put it into a fancy dish, placing it in the middle of the table, (to top it off, I cut a heart out of a mozzarella cheese and put in the middle). I fancied up the table with special china dishes and wine glasses, and to drink I bought a bottle of non-alcoholic wine which I set out. When it was all prepared, I went to my room and dressed up in the fanciest evening dress I had and put my hair in an up-do. Next, I wrote a little love note and put on his place at he table, shut off all the lights, lit candles everywhere (including 2 on the table), and turned on a CD of all slow love songs. When I woke him up, smiling and looking around he was amazed! We ate supper and then spent the rest of the night in each other’s arms dancing in my living room by candlelight. We both agreed it had to be one of the most special nights we ever spent together and still to this day he doesn’t stop talking about how perfect it was and how beautiful I looked.

Table of Love
For Valentine’s Day I sent my wife to get her hair done. While she was gone I picked up her favorite Chinese take out and went to work on decorating the table. Instead of a fancy table cloth, I bought a yard of pink material (really cheap) and a yard of plastic covering (also cheap). I went home and laid down the pink cloth. Then I placed pictures of us all over the table. After that I placed the plastic sheet to protect the pictures and then proceeded to set the table with candles and nice dishes. When I picked her up I was all dressed up. When we arrived home, she about cried when she saw all the work I went through for her. She loved the table soo much that it is still there today.

Tasty Romance
Men, cook your lady a meal. Invite her over one night, without telling her that you’re making dinner. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a simple, warm, sincere meal. Then when she gets there, be sure to have music playing, possibly candles lit, and then for the rest of the evening just eat, talk, and relax. Who knows where the evening could go from there…

The Beach and a Book
Take your significant other to the beach, make your favorite meal (picnic style), or even try new weird foods together, and bring a book. Have them lay down and you read to them, take turns if you want. If they have a favorite book bring that.

Thrift Shop If You Dare!
My husband and I went to a thrift store and with a maximum of only $10, picked each other out an hideous outfit and are going to wear them out to a diner. It’s two cheap dates that are hilarious. It’s also an insight to see how cruel your partner can be.
