Tasty Romance
Men, cook your lady a meal. Invite her over one night, without telling her that you’re making dinner. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just a simple, warm, sincere meal. Then when she gets there, be sure to have music playing, possibly candles lit, and then for the rest of the evening just eat, talk, and relax. Who knows where the evening could go from there…

The Beach and a Book
Take your significant other to the beach, make your favorite meal (picnic style), or even try new weird foods together, and bring a book. Have them lay down and you read to them, take turns if you want. If they have a favorite book bring that.

Thrift Shop If You Dare!
My husband and I went to a thrift store and with a maximum of only $10, picked each other out an hideous outfit and are going to wear them out to a diner. It’s two cheap dates that are hilarious. It’s also an insight to see how cruel your partner can be.

To Be a Kid Again
I was once dating this really amazing guy and one of the most memorable dates we ever had was when he picked me up from my house and went to his apartment. We went to the pool there and laid out in the sun and tanned. Later, we went to the bookstore to browse then dinner and a movie. After all that we went back to his place and it was pouring rain outside. We already had our swimsuits on from tanning so I said, “Hey! Let’s play in the rain!” We went out and played tag, hide-n-seek, and we even mud wrestled. It was something we both hadn’t done in years and it was very exciting! I’ve never forgotten and hopefully he hasn’t either.

Try The Simple Things
You always want alone time with your partner. Well, here’s an idea out of experience. I met my current girlfriend online. After 6 years of talking, we finally decided to meet in September 2003. Best decision I have ever made in my life. She’s in Boston, so I decided to go see her. Everything went perfectly. The first night I was there we decided to go for a walk along the Charles River. It was amazing! Nothing could’ve been better, taking a long walk with your love, sharing stories, talking, walking, laughing, and telling each other how much you mean to each other after all these years. It could not go any better. It actually turned out to be the best weekend of my life; I loved it. Take advantage of the simple things and don’t underestimate them. Take a long walk somewhere like a beach, lake, or pond. Bond with your partner; It will work. The simple things are just as important as the bigger things. Try it out.

Valentine’s Day Picnic
My husband had to work on Valentine’s Day, and we were broke. I wanted to do something special for him that didn’t cost much and didn’t take up too much time. So, I made chocolate peanut butter cups and chocolate covered strawberries and almonds. I packed a picnic of French bread, cheese, fruit and salad and a bottle of cheap, but good champagne. I then picked him up from work and drove him to a park we never been to that has these big beautiful statues. We ate our picnic near the stream and had a great time.

Valentine’s On A Budget
We had only been going out 8 months and it was one of the most important days of the year -Valentine’s Day. We had planned to rent a motel that evening and just spend time together but I felt bad for not having money to get him anything. Since I was still in high school at the time I decided to do something cute. I put decorations all over his car with cute pink hearts, and ribbons tied everywhere. On the front door I put a romantic poem that I created myself telling him how much I appreciated him. On the window I put a little note saying I loved him and that I’d see him tonight. Needless to say I pulled it off and I watched the smile on his face. This cost me basically $0.00 as I had all the decorating stuff around my place.

Where We Can Be Alone
My boyfriend and I are both college students, so finances are always tight. Also, it’s hard to get much “alone time” when you live in a dorm! One night, we just couldn’t wait to be alone, so we went and bought Chinese takeout. Then we went to the top level of a parking deck (it was after hours). We had candles, flowers, and a blanket and ate Chinese and watched the sunset together. It was so wonderful, and now whenever we need to get away, that’s where we go.
