Home Sweet Home
My friend and her boyfriend had been together for a little over 2 years and had lived together about that long as well when they decided to buy a house together. On the day they had gone to sign the papers to close on the house, he had a close friend stop by the house and prepare the “scene”. He had over a dozen red roses spread all over the counter and then another dozen in a vase, in front of the vase was the ring he designed himself inside the open ring box. When they decided to stop by the house, he let her walk in first so she could see what he had planned. I thought it was so cute!

How to Respond to His Proposal
Being a bit of a traditionalist, I want my boyfriend to be the one to propose, but I want him to know that I had thought about it and I wholeheartedly wanted to. So for his birthday this year I bought a glass bottle with a wide neck, a ring and got some sand. On the inside of the ring I had inscribed, “Yes because I love you.” I wrapped up the ring to stop it from being damaged, placed it in the bottle and added the sand so you couldn’t see the ring. I then sealed it all up with candle wax so I’d know if he’s cheated and peeked. And on the day he asks me, I will say maybe… and make him wait until he has the bottle of sand. That way both of us have had our own little surprise! As of yet he hasn’t asked but neither has he peeked so I’m on an even par. This is not one for those with boyfriends who are too curious or you could be answering awkward questions!!

I Love You No Matter What
It was the summer before my freshman year in college and I had gone to the mall earlier that day to buy a card for my boyfriend. The card was to put his worries to rest about me finding someone else since our schools were an hour apart. He called me on my cell phone while I was shopping to let me know he had a surprise for me as well. He was waiting for me at my house when I pulled in the driveway and followed me inside. I handed him his card and a teddy bear I had bought him. He told me to close my eyes and wait. I felt something soft in my hands and opened my eyes. It was a stuffed Pooh Bear on a key chain dressed like a bunny. I was a little confused that he had gotten so excited over a key chain, but I smiled at him anyway, it was cute. He told me to take the ears off (it was like a hat). As I removed the ears, I saw the sparkle of a diamond ring. He told me that no matter how far away we were from each other, he would always love me. I melted, and I can’t wait to walk down the aisle in two years with him!

I Proposed To Him
When my boyfriend of 7 months told me he was never going to get married unless a woman asked him, I was surprised. I had always prepared my self to say yes to him when he did, but now I had to change the plan and ask him. On my birthday, he took me out for a romantic dinner in an Italian restaurant. I wanted to read to him a letter I wrote telling him about my feelings and what I wanted out of our relationship. During our main course, I started reading it slowly, looking at his face every once and a while to see his expressions. I then suddenly got out of my chair and walked towards him, while still reading the letter. When I got to the part in the letter where I wrote that I was going to propose to him I told him to hold the letter for a minute, knelt before him and told him it was going to be my honor if I could be his wife. The look on his face was priceless; he looked at me and with tears filled eyes. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at us… I was crying out of joy and was the happiest woman on earth. This is a birthday I will never forget 🙂

In Lieu of a Ring
My boyfriend was in the Navy in Florida and I went down to visit him. He met me at the airport and had a rose and and a “I Love You” teddy bear. He told me he loved me, for the first time in person that day. Then he took me to the hotel where I was staying. He said he had gone by ahead of time to make sure it was all set. I walked into the room and there was a little jewelry box on my pillow. Inside were diamond earrings. Two days later, we were at the base, in the lounge, and he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He said the earrings were in place of a ring because he couldn’t afford a diamond ring yet but he had been too scared to ask me then. I can’t imagine a better or more romantic proposal than that.

Karaoke Proposal
My boyfriend and I frequent karaoke bars. I would love for him to sing me a romantic song and then propose to me in front of everyone.

Key To My Heart Proposal
One morning my boyfriend of decided to come to my house at 6:00 with a huge surprise. (He has a key to my house.) While I was still sleeping, he somehow managed to tape a piece of string to my bedroom ceiling a little over my bed with a note hanging down from it. The note read: Look under your pillow. When I did, I found a key and another note that told me to go downstairs. And at the end of my stairs was a little wooden box with a keyhole. I put the key in and opened it up. Right as I did that, my boyfriend stepped out from around the staircase and asked me to marry him. I turned to look back at the box and found the little ring box inside the bigger wooden box. I was so thrilled and it was very romantic!

Love For A Lifetime
My boyfriend had a very unique and special way of proposing to me. One Friday night after work, we were planning on just picking up some dinner and lying around the house for the evening. He went straight home after work and had me stop and pick the food up on my way over. I walked through his front door about 20 minutes after he had gotten home and walked into the kitchen where he was. All the lights were off and he had set the table and had candles sitting everywhere. He also bought me roses, which were sitting in the middle of the table along with about a dozen cards that we had given to each other over the years plus a new card. Next he had me sit down and he brought the food to me and we ate as we read the cards along with some of our old e-mails. After dinner he told me he had an early Christmas present for me back in his room. We walked back into his room and he had bought me a big, wooden chest that was sitting on the floor at the end of his bed with a bow and a rose on it. He had also lit candles everywhere in his room along with some more of our old cards. We took a few minutes to read the cards and then he asked me to open the chest. When I opened the chest I was very surprised.
He had taped cards, e-mails, notes and everything else we had given to each other to the inside and had filled the bottom with all of our special things. All of this meant a lot to me because over the past two years we have been through a lot together and were finally getting to the point where we could be completely happy and do the things we could only dream about in years past. He had not only saved everything but had put them in order in the chest. Then he had me read a few things and played our very first song to each other. He had me read more and played another song. We read and re-lived memories together, listened to all the songs on a CD he made for me, songs that got us through when things were tough, and we also danced together. It was amazing! Just when I thought I was having the best night of my life, he asked me to sit down. He reached into the chest and brought out two picture frames. He handed me the first one and when I saw what he had done my heart just stopped. He had typed the words to our new song and framed it for me. It was beautiful not to mention the sweetest thing ever. Then he handed me the second frame. The second frame was titled, A LOVE FOR A LIFETIME, which is the title of the first book we had ever read together. Underneath the title he had typed several promises to me and ended it by asking me to marry him. When I was finished reading it, he handed me a box. In the box was the prettiest ring I had ever seen. I was speechless, but after a few seconds, I said, “YES!” We had a wonderful night and we are getting married in September. It was the most memorable and best night of my life and I am the luckiest woman alive to be sitting here today engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. He is my everything.

Love Hunt Proposal
I am about to propose to my girlfriend in 13 days – I’m very excited ! This is how I am planning on doing it: (a lot of inspiration taken from various entries here and put together for my idea), her sister will be taking her out to lunch, naturally I will have tipped the waiters to take their time, definitely no rush needed. As they eat their lunch, I will be preparing the game. Her room will be filled with balloons, each with either rose petals or notes inside, and on the door before she enters will be a note saying “You might need this” accompanied by a safety pin. As she works through the balloons, the notes will have various reasons/explanations as to why I love her and why she means so much to me. Behind all of the balloons will be a custom made teddy bear, with a recording of me reciting a poem I hired someone to write (using my expressions and emotions though, I just can’t word it in poetry) – but without any batteries. It will be holding a note telling her to take the bear and go outside, where a limo will be waiting. The limo will take her to a place in the local park, where a battery will be waiting for her, and as she puts it in and listens to the poem, I will come up to her and finish the poem with the big question … wish me luck!

Love Is Patient
My fiancé and I have been together for 8 years. We have been living together for 6. For a long time I knew that marriage was not his cup of tea. I had stopped pressuring him years ago. So, I never expected anything like what he did. October 29th, he took me to a very nice Chinese restaurant at a hotel. We had a long and very deep conversation about us. At the end of the dinner, the traditional fortune cookies arrived. When I opened my fortune, it said “Will you marry me?” It was truly the shock of my life. He went down on his knees and asked me again and gave me the most beautiful diamond ring that I have ever seen. Our wedding will be next year. My family’s thoughts: “Finally!”

Makin’ Memories
My husband proposed to me on an overcast summer day while we were lounging by a small lake in Virginia. It was the first hint of marriage in our relationship. We hadn’t even talked about it. After that it was 5 months until I got the ring and the second and official proposal. He sent me on a scavenger hunt of places that had special meaning to us while we were dating. He involved my best friend and my sister in the plan. The hunt started one evening when they gave me a 3×5 card with three words on it. These were clues to take me to the first place. It was the lake where we first talked to each other. There I found a long stem red rose, a card with his memories and thoughts of that first day and a second 3×5 card with three more words directing me to the next spot. There were 12 places in all – 12 red roses and 12 cards with his feelings about me and our memories together. Some of the places were a favorite restaurant, a movie theater, a park we frequented, where we went on our first date, the trailhead of a favorite hike. The hunt led me to a beautiful resort up in the mountains where I found him with the last rose and card. He led me to a quiet spot and got down on his knees in the snow and proposed. It was amazing. And the inside of my ring had the words “Makin’ Memories” engraved along with our wedding date.

Many Roses
The most romantic proposal that one could ever think of was the one that my fiancé gave to me. One day, my then boyfriend asked if I wanted to come over to his place with some friends to watch a movie. Of course I said yes and I went there after I got off work. Well, when I got there, I opened the door not to find all of our friends, but to dimmed lights, and all I could see were roses. He had bought ten dozen roses and put them in 10 different vases along with many tea light candles placed around the vases. On the coffee table were roses and tea light candles that spelled out “I LOVE YOU.” As I opened the door the rest of the way, I saw him on his knee and there were rose petals all over the floor around him. He had the bracelet that I wore on our first date. He put it on my wrist and said, “This is what started our relationship,” and then he put the ring on my finger and said, “this is what will keep it going forever.” It was the most romantic thing ever!

Mother’s Day Proposal
My then-boyfriend, JR, took my daughter and me to our favorite place: the ocean, for Mother’s Day this year. We drove up and down Highway 1 and stopped at numerous lookouts. At one right outside of Bodega Bay, he told me to close my eyes while he went to the car. When he got back, he told me how much he loved me and my daughter. Then he pulled out a gorgeous engagement ring and slipped it on my finger. He knelt down on a patch of wildflowers and asked me those four words, “Will you marry me?” Of course I said yes! We’re getting married in September!

Mountain Picnic Proposal
My boyfriend and I had been dating for about 6 months and we had just finished our junior year of college. We had to split up for the summer because we both knew we would make more money if we went home to work for the summer. We were so used to seeing each other every day that we both almost cried when we said goodbye. I live in Illinois, and he lives in Idaho, so we knew we wouldn’t really get to see each other. After he had been there for a few weeks, he decided that he would be making enough money to buy me a plane ticket so I could come visit him. We had talked about getting married, but we were both completely broke, so I wasn’t expecting to get engaged anytime soon. While I was out visiting him one night we decided after dinner to go rent a movie and watch it in his basement. As we left for the video store I noticed we weren’t going the way of the video store. He said he wanted to go somewhere else first, so I said okay and didn’t ask any questions. We drove up into the mountains. When we got to the top, he got in the back of the Durango and pulled out a picnic basket. We walked up a little path to a nice spot by a cliff with a beautiful view. He unpacked the picnic while I walked off too look at some of the view. We had strawberries, whipped cream, grapes, crackers, cheese, and sparkling cider (since we don’t drink). After we ate we were sitting and enjoying the view. Then he looked at me and said, “These mountains are really beautiful, but they’re nothing next to you.” And he pulled out an AMAZING ring! (Bigger than my mother’s ring!) We stayed up on the mountain and watched the sun set, then we drove down and saw all the beautiful city lights sparkling! He had been planning the whole thing all summer!!
