cryptocurrency romance scam article & podcast

Scammers will pray on the lonely - on dating apps. As sad as it is, this is what has been happening and the dating scams are growing more and more each year. Salty Vixen wanted to make a report about the cryptocurrency romance as when I found out the person I talked to was a scammer, I knew to raise awareness about it so you all know what to look for so it doesn't happen to you.

note: when you meet someone on a dating app, and you give your number, get a burner phone number, so many apps for that! or a google voice number - those can't be traced who it belongs to. Do a search on truthfinder or social catfish once you get their number, if they are using google voice number, you can't find them out unless they give you their name, and if it is real - a quick trace is good to make sure the person isn't a criminal, scammer or married.

I was on Facebook DatingApp, hearting those I like and then there was "Jack", a handsome man who was from China. He had told his story, he was divorced, no kids. Wife cheated. Lived in California and moved to my state in 2018.

In China, while at college in Hong Kong, he and his friend opened up a clothing shop and a hotel. Apparently made a lot of money but that wasn't a great source of income, so then he met a person who told 'Jack' that cryptocurrency is a way to make a lot of money.

He was getting 50K A month with the cryptocurrency machines, two of them he had in two states but not the state we both reside in. We then exchanged numbers (I use a burner phone number), and told me he chats on Signal app,  a way to keep in contact with his family in China.

SIGNAL App was banned in China back in 2021 - Folks ALWAYS do your research! I only had a bit of Salty Vixen fun with the scammer to get him to ask me to invest in crypto.

He then told me his Chinese name, which, as anyone should, I researched his name. Nothing came up except for a famous footballer in China. His name didn't come up in my state or city. Didn't come up in California. He also was using google Voice Over phone number, which, cannot be traced who the owner is. ugh.

He was a handsome architect from China, who came to California after becoming a successful designer, but couldn't afford a mortgage and lived with his uncle in Beverly Hills, then California being too expensive he moved to my state (never got the full reason why lol)

The following morning, he sent me a picture of him making coffee, with expensive coffeemaker, a photo which was found on pinterest. He wasn't in the photo, but a random hand that didn't look like his Facebook Dating App picture! Also the photo had cigarettes, and his profile dating app said he doesn't smoke. I called him on that and he said he only smokes SOMETIMES. There was a WHOLE lot of cigarettes in the picture.

Later that day, he sent me two short videos of him cooking steak. They were two different videos from two different kitchens, two different steaks and two different pans. Remember folks ALWAYS analyze things! I did look up the pictures on Social Catfish and reverse google search NOTHING. You can't do a reverser facebook image search on the Facebook Dating App - sucks! As the Facebook Dating App is only for phones and not desktop.

There is more! I know what you are saying, why didn't I stop when I noticed he was lying? I wanted to, at this point, do this for you all so you don't get scammed or know what to look fore. These scammers know there are a lot of lonely people out there and think that us lonely people are wealthy. I am not a wealthy person, I wish I was.

Once upon a time I could travel in Europe and go to charity events. That was a different life. Thanks to being a single mom and inflation, that life is in the past.

He then sent me pictures of his artwork-designs. I also looked up the company in China, and his name didn't show up anywhere. Also he forgot to crop out the artist name (he found the pictures on pinterest) - notice I 'hearted' the answers, I did it for two reasons, to be nice and also to show that I read the text.

You can clearly see the author's name on the right blue ballet dress (I can't remember the name but reverse google image search showed me). Then I asked why he moved to my state, he said California was 'expensive' , and it is but the place he was living in from the city he said he lived in, didn't add up.

For someone making so much money- he should be living in a nice place, yes? Except there was no address for his name listed anywhere in my state.

I asked him what his actual job is, and he still said designer. Look folks, if someone continues this lie, think about it. If someone from China (Spain, etc..) claims designer, they would be living in their country or nearby.. or perhaps California or New York City but not in a small town now-a-days lol. See his stories still not adding up?

Then I got tired of his bull sh*t, I asked him for the truth, his story changed once again-

He was still trying to trust me. I spoked to my friends about this person who told me "SCAMMER RUN!" I said, I will, I just need him to ...well read the rest of the story:

Sunday rolls around. I was ready to end this conversation with scammer. For a fella who wants to get to know me - he wasn't texting me at ALL on Sunday. Then I said "what have you been up to today?" (previous text was at 11AM "how are you?" to him from me)

And apparently he was visiting his crypto-analysts on a Sunday lol. Bullsh*t!  Then I asked him if he wanted me to invest in cryptocurrency, so I can send this stupid scammer conversation"

And this is how it all ended:

When I said "I thought about investing in the future" I was having fun with the scammer lol.  I wasn't going to invest and NEVER invest in these scams. Always be cautious of these dating apps, who you are talking to! Remember, if it is good good to be true, the answer is: it is bullshit!

After that I blocked him but ended it with a VERY Salty Vixen response. I forgot to mention, he sent me a picture of his parents in China, that he supports with all that he makes with his cryptocurrency. He also has 2 older siblings, and I guess he forgot in China one child rule until 2016, then it changed to two children. Also the picture he sent me of his 'parents' were taken in a hotel, not his parents home lol. The photo wasn't in China! Also he said he was going to visit his parents for Chinese New Year in December- Even I Know it is in January 2023! lol.

My point is , always be careful who you talk to online, so many scammers and liars on there. Next blog will talk about my other experiences that I wanted to share to warn you about the dating world. There is a Mr. Salty Vixen out there. He will be found.
