Meghan Markle Wins “Women of Vision ” Award – Let’s talk about the Elephant in the Room

All newspapers are sucking up about Meghan Markle winning an award- because they are paid to do so! I am not going to suck up, in fact I am going to be real about it.

Remember when Meghan and Harry wanted "Privacy?" yeah, what happened to that rubbish motto?

So let's get on with the sucking up part of the news,

Meghan Markle still made a royal entrance at a glitzy bash in New York City Tuesday night – with husband Prince Harry by her side.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, showed a bit more skin than usual in a quilted gold Joanna Ortiz gown ($1,850). The strapless garment — called the Ideal Universe midi dress — featured a small diamond cutout and knee-length slit. She accessorized with gold Tom Ford stilettos ($1,350), a yellow Carolina Herrera clutch ($1,100) and hoop earrings.- Because I am going to go out to the store and send $1,350 on shoes and $1,850 on a dress - I can look like a million bucks and spend less. Trust me, my Sherri Hill dress I wore in 2014 for Sentebale 10 Year Anniversary Party cost me $450 (dress was this : Sherri Hill 32074 Straight Strapless Floral Print Cocktail-Length Skirt): (I am the blonde in the far-left corner. Yep, that is me on Getty Images!)

I have been to so many charity events over the years and I try to spend less than $500 on my dresses. The only thing expensive I had on were my Jimmy Choo shoes - champagne glitter sandals and matching clutch that I bought while I was in London for the event. Where are they now? In my closet. My podcast I am doing later today will explain why I pulled out of charities 18 June 2016 (I will link it later when I make it)

Back to the rubbish news:

Meanwhile, Harry, 38, sported a navy suit with a light blue tie as he walked in with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Markle was the guest of honor at the event, receiving the Women of Vision Award from Gloria Steinem, legendary feminist and Ms. Foundation for Women co-founder. Steinem, 89, presented Markle the award for “her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls” in honor of the nation’s oldest women’s foundation celebrating its 50th anniversary.

In her acceptance speech, Markle encouraged women to find inspiration to fight for equity.  “It’s never too late to start,” Markle said. “You can be the visionary of your own life… There is still so much work to be done.”

She also recalled how growing up, Ms. Magazine was always in her house.  “I am a woman who remains inspired and driven by this organization,” she said. “It allowed me to recognize that part of my greater value and purpose in life was to advocate for those who felt unheard, to stand up to injustice, and to not be afraid of saying what is true and what is just and what is right.”

Don't forget, a few days prior to this evening, Harry and Meghan visited youth group AHA! Santa Barbara in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Okay now for the Elephant in the Room:

I am curious who cares when celebrities win awards? I mean, apart from movies, things like this, why does it go to celebrities who only do things for PR purposes?

Look, I knew Harry personally (2004) and (2014-2016) - he is a good person, full of passion but I will tell you what a lot of people who know him tell you, while he is full of passion, his voice, he hasn't found yet. He tags along. Even his "Spare" book, isn't him writing. Yes, I know, he had a Ghost Writer, but I am sure the Ghost Writer asked Harry sternly, if he really wants to add "putting it on his todger (penis)" in the book. If Harry married anyone else, I am guessing the book would not have been written.

Created in 1989, the Women of Vision Award is given to the recipient who has demonstrated advancing gender equality and supporting women's rights. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy, and impact in advancing social justice and equality for women; traits that Gloria Steinem extolled in her heyday as an equal rights activist.

So my question is, do they care about non celebrities who have done a lot ? No, because we the people don't matter. It is all about popularity of a person. Now before you all think I am jealous. No I am not . Bitter? Yes. There is a difference. I am tired of all the smoke and mirrors of awards and charities. If you donate money to a charity, you should have a voice, right? Nope. that isn't gonna happen unless you are a celebrity or royalty. It sucks but it is what it is. I have been there. I still have fond memories of supporting charities, but at times, I heard things or saw things and kept quiet about it- I tried to let a charity I supported know what was being said by fellow Patrons and I was disregarded. now if it came from Prince Harry's mouth, they would listen. Such double damn standards!

Harry is a double standard- I am sorry but I am going to say this! If he believed in social justice & equality for women, then he should look at his friends for the shit ways they treated women during polo summer days! Harry & William had no idea once they were not around their friends they way TWO of them treated women ,took advantage of us. And you know women will not come forward because we just want to forget!

You know what they say - charity starts at home. Look through the looking glass, Harry.
