Romance On A Budget

Being romantic can get expensive. If your budget doesn't allow you to do large extravagant things, try one of the ideas below for frugal versions of the "romance classics."

Flowers
Everyone likes to receive flowers, but it can be quite an expensive passion. Instead of the traditional dozen roses, pick a bunch of wildflowers and leave them at their door or on their car windshield. You can usually get rose petals from florist shops. Sprinkle a bunch in the bedroom or in your love's bath. Another great idea you can try is to make paper flowers. Check out an Origami book for instructions!

Candy
There's nothing like sweets for your sweet! Splurge a little and spend $5.00 on your sweetie's favorite candy bars. Be creative and make a poem out of them. Buy a chocolate chip cookie mix, wrap it up and leave a note attached to it inviting your partner to make them with you. Surprise your partner with one of their favorite chocolates from their favorite candy store.

Cards
With the Internet, sending cards has never been more frugal, or romantic! You can find cards to send electronically, or to print out and give in person. You can also show your creative side and make a card for your love. Use cut-outs, stickers, stencils or draw your card. Any way you do it, the recipient will appreciate the effort and the message.

Romantic Meal
For under $10.00 you can enjoy a romantic dinner for two of pasta, salad and breadsticks. Or, arrange for a romantic picnic of cheese, crackers and wine. Whatever you do, the more thought and preparation you put into your meal the easier, the more economical and the more romantic it will be!
