Want Girl Scout Cookies? Price Jumped from $5 to $6 per box

Remember what it was like to be a Girl Scout and selling those yummy cookies? Thin Mint are still my favorite cookie and with that said, it is that time of the year again. Girl Scout cookies are back and the price has increased!

In order to combat rising production and material costs, GSHH will be increasing the price of all cookie packages to $6.00,” a Girl Scout chapter interim CEO wrote. With Girl Scout cookies being sold nation-wide, prices of Raspberry Rally cookies on second-hand sites such as eBay and Poshmark have risen as high as six times the original price of $5 per box.

The new Raspberry Rally cookie, which has sold out repeatedly since its initial launch this year, can be purchased only through online platforms. Raspberry Rally cookies are chocolate-coated with a sweet and tart raspberry cookie inside, similar to the popular thin mints cookies.

Remember when things were more affordable? Not anymore! Even the Girl Scout cookie isn't safe! I remember across the country announced price increase from $4 to $5 a box in 2014 and 2015. Consumers have been tightening their belts when it comes to discretionary items, and some may balk at the higher prices.

But Girl Scouts learned last year that there is a market for higher-priced cookies, thanks to the Raspberry Rally debacle. The Rallies, a limited-edition, raspberry-flavored version of the beloved Thin Mint, sold out rapidly and ended up on eBay for several times the listed price, to the frustration of the Girl Scouts leadership.
