Four Easy Steps to Creating a Sacred Sex Place at Home

It’s likely that one of the reasons everyone has more sex on vacation is because there’s a sense of ‘specialness’ about staying in a hotel room. It’s quiet, there are no children, or dishes, or jobs. And yes, the lack of distractions and stress make it easier to focus on lovemaking!

But you know, it’s possible to create that special and sacred environment at home too. It might take a bit of work, but if you want to create your own sacred sex space, the rewards will be well worth the effort.

Here, then, we offer four spectacular tips to creating your own homemade sacred sex space.

Figure out where this special sex space should be.

The obvious choice will be the bedroom, and that’s the most reasonable. Here’s why: if you have children, it’s the most private and special place in the house for you to create a sacred sex area. It’s also the one area of the house you can make off-limits to kids. But even if you don’t have children, your bedroom is still your best bet simply because it’s the place people will likely enter the least. People generally won’t invite themselves into your bedroom during a party or visit, so it’s a space that you can keep private, special and even a bit naughty, if you like (and we’ll get to that in a minute).

Make it special.

What does this mean? Essentially our recommendation here is that you think about what your woman wants in her special sex space. Your needs are important too, don’t misunderstand but she needs more to get and keep her turned on. She will be affected by smells, touch and a feeling of luxury.

And her utter appreciation of the time you took to make this space special with her needs in mind is sure to benefit you, if you know what I mean.

Think about your lady. Is she a pink kind of girl? Perhaps she’s into candles, incense, and things of that nature. Pop into a candle store and buy some beautiful candles that have a great smell that will NOT bother you (think vanilla or lavender). After all, it’s your sacred sex place too, right?

Music is important. Can you bring in a small boom box or set the TV to bring in satellite radio? How about buying an iPod compatible system in so you can listen to your (and her) favorite tunes?

Making this space special also means getting rid of clutter. If your sacred space is the bedroom, get rid of the dirty laundry on the floor, the papers on the dresser and the kids’ toys sprinkled about.

This is about you and her, and keeping that focus is important. Don’t just keep it clean when you’re ready for a little loving. Keeping your sacred lovemaking space all clean all the time lowers stress levels, helping you to relax more, when in turn makes you more receptive or in the mood for lovemaking.

Think about BOTH your needs.

What do the two of you like to do while making love? Are you all about the spiritual connection? In that case, be sure that you do have the candles, music and wonderful sheets. Do you like to have lots of fun with toys? In that case, fill a box or basket (that has a lid) with a few of your favorite adult toys. Be sure to keep it near your sacred love space so you can reach into it at any time.

If you are a fan of long lasting lovemaking sessions, you might consider adding a small fridge to the room. This way, whenever you guys want a drink or snack, there’s no need to break the mood. You can even plan ahead and fill the fridge with champagne, strawberries and other special treats for a special night of lovemaking.

Create the right mood.

We’ve talked about the décor and the candles, and even adding a fridge and toys. But creating the right mood means keeping everything sacred. That means you think about everything. Is it time to get rid of the picture of your parents that hangs on the wall? Should you consider investing in some fantastic new bedding or even matching furniture? If you want to create that hotel feel, think about what is appealing about a hotel.

Of course, you might not be able to replicate having a maid and no schedule for your day, but you can replicate other desirable aspects of a hotel room, such as matching furniture, cleanliness, and the sense of being away from the world for awhile.

If you create a good retreat, you’ll feel as if you’re getting away without leaving the house. And the feeling of ‘getting away’ is often what makes people feel like they have all the time in the world for making love.
