We are a small publishing company and we went to sell your books! As you know Amazon and Smashwords /Draft2Digital are the largest distributors in the world when it comes to ebooks and as an author, you want to distribute your work as many places as possible - with the acception of publishing via Amazon KDP Select (once you publish on KDP Select, you cannot publish your book elsewhere).

Why publish your book on Saltyvixenstories.com ? Well, the truth is, the more places you publish, the more you get the word that you are a published author. Many users have issues with big companies making profits, which, in a way, most if not all companies have to make something to keep their sites running. Take Smashwords, for example (and I love them!)  

 Smashwords takes a share of 15% and you keep 85%, however, you are not likely to have as much as 1% of your books sales from that store and because they are guaranteed their share, 100% of the 99% plus of your books which are sold at various other outlets will have ‘double deductions’; Smashwords’ plus the retailers’ who generally take no less than 30%. Therefore you are guaranteed to earn much less from publishing with Smashwords especially when they are boasting of being the largest international ebook publisher.

And the more books published on Smashwords, Amazon, etc.. the more likely your published work will be lost in the clutter of many other books being uploaded every sinle day - and that means you will now have to 'brand your Pen/ Author' name. Or as I call it "Kicking it back Old Skool Style" - remember the old days of having a website, getting your name out there and then publishing? 

YOUR SWEET BOOK WILL LIKELY BE LOST IN THE CLUTTER OF HUNDREDS OF BOOKS BEING UPLOADED EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY. Your opportunity via Smashwords, will die out much faster than a shooting star.

What makes SaltyVixenStories.com different from the rest of the Indy Publishers? Well, for starters, we do make a profit, but not much. We make 2% from sales. Example, if you sell your book for $4.99 that is $0.998 or round it to $0.99 (yes, we didn't round it up purposely.) The reason why we make a small profit is honestly, to keep this site running.  We want you the author make money! 

What if your book was banned on A*azon? or your account? Yes, we will accept your book! As long as there is NO Kiddie P*rn.We do NOT accept that! 

What about Vanity Publishing? I have a story to tell you about that when I began the venture of being a published author many years ago. I was naive. I didn't know what to do as I wanted the big companies to get my book (it wasn't erotica. It was a different subject). 500 page book, and big companies such as Penguin wouldn't accept my book because I am not a* known author*. I began to question "how can an author be known if nobody is giving the author a change?" 

Then I got an email from a vanity publisher. I had no idea what it was- they told me I need to sign a contact and pay what would total $2,000 for them to edit the book, make a cover and help create a title (yep! I had a title but it wasn't 'good enough' according to them...). I told them all I wanted was and edit and a cover. It took them four months to edit ONE chapter. Granted, they are a busy company - but while I waited, I was paying them a monthly fee. After three months paying, and them sending me a jpg of a cover they designed, I think it was $350 a month, I smartened up and realized they were vanity publishers. I felt sick. Wasting all that money for a service I could have done myself. The cover of the book? It was a picture I submitted they put into a photoshop program, something I could have done myself. Why didn't I? Because I had no clue what to do at the time.

I got out of the contract, and published my book elsewhere as a indy publisher and ended up making my money back that I spent with this vanity publisher.  In a nutshell, we are NOT a vanity publisher! 

Can you distribute to Barns N Noble, Kobo and other places? Absolutely!  However, if you already published with Smashwords, there is no need for us to publish with the other companies as Smashwords does that for you. If they do not publish it for you as you got one of those emails "your book doesn't meet the guidelines to publish on Kobo, etc.." then let us know! We will look into that for you!

Editing services: Do you offer that ? Yep! This is something we do charge for , but we make sure to keep the costs low. We can edit your books and we have a system that is unique. When we edit the manuscript, you get a file sent to you with 3 sets of corrections. That way you can say "I like Correction 1 or I like them all..." it is up to you! Editing is , as you know, an opinion- so you shouldn't have to pay a HUGE cost for editing services! Check out our services here.
