Loving A Friend: Letting Them Know

If your interest in a friend has been developing into something a little more than platonic, try using these ideas to let them know.

Let Time Reveal All

Arrange to spend more intimate time with your friend than usual. For example, go to eat together more often. Spend your days off together doing fun stuff, or sharing normal household duties. Your odds of a romance blossoming all on its own are much greater with the amount of quality time you spend together.

Experimental Dating

Approach your friend with the idea of dating each other. If you're both looking for someone, and your both already like each other as friends, than chances are you may make a great couple. Arrange for an out-clause if things don't work out, or you want to date other people.

Just Do It

If you think your love interest will be returned you could try one of these romantic gestures to let them know your interest has turned serious.

"I'm a college student and I'm in love with my best friend. She is well aware of this fact, but I wanted her to know just how interested I am, so I decided to do something for her. I typed out a very professional looking resume complete with a career objective: "A starting position as boyfriend for a beautiful, smart, busy, wonderful woman....", outstanding qualities, experience (consisting of things we had gone through over the past year of being best friends) and references. I also typed up a nice cover letter stating my intentions and qualifications. I printed these out on some expensive resume paper using a friend's really nice laser printer (I even printed the envelope) and mailed it to her. It looked great and she loved it. :)"

Loving A Friend: Avoid Heartbreak

"This is something my best guy friend did to show me he wanted more than friendship. I came home one day, and my whole apartment was covered in flower petals and hearts of all sizes. Every room had flowers and heart cut outs in it. On my bed, there was a big white heart that had a cell phone number to call. I called it, and then there was a ringing in my closet. My friend answered the phone, and asked me if I would go steady with him. I opened my closet and there he was standing with roses. I pulled him out of the closet and kissed him. We've been together for 2 years now! It's a great way to ask someone out, or just to say I love you!"
