Valentine’s Day Hot First Date Tips

One of the things about dating that really confuses people is how to act and what to do. Now, I am not talking about date ideas here. I am talking more about how to act on a first date and how romantic it should be. You see, traditionally the first date is about getting to know the person you are with, getting comfortable and exploring each other's personalities. It is important, therefore, that you do not go overboard. However, seeing that this is a Valentine's Day date, you should spend a little more time and plan something a little classier than a more common first date at the movies.

Some ideas include:

  • A dinner cruise along a river or out on the ocean.
  • A visit to the planetarium or observatory, watching the stars.
  • A relaxed and enjoyable dinner in a romantic restaurant by a beach or river, just chatting and watching the world go by.
  • A candlelight dinner followed by dancing, either at the restaraunt or a club. If it is warm enough, end the evening with a romantic stroll under the stars.
  • A concert or play, followed by a late romantic dinner.

The idea is to go to places where you are able to talk and have fun without putting yourself into situations where you are too intimate. Of course, if this is a first date with someone that you have known for a while, you can be a little more elaborate and intimate with what you plan.

Tips:

Take a small gift, but nothing too mushy or expensive. A small bouquet of flowers, a single rose or a box of chocolates are excellent ideas.

Dating etiquette really depends on the person you are dating, but for a guy, it is better to err on the side of chivalry and romance: open the car door for her, take her coat and be courteous at all appropriate moments. Again, don't go overboard on the chivalry, it is better to act natural and relaxed, as though it is second nature to you. For a both sexes, don't start talking about kids and marriage. Allow yourself to get comfortable with each other first.
